Ceremony and Ritual

I believe in the healing and transformative power of ceremony and ritual.  Especially ones that honor sacred life transistions.  They can also bring community together to offer support to the person undergoing the transistion. From Mother Blessings to Closing the Bones ceremonies and more, I can create a ritual that honors the support and healing you need.

About Me

For me Motherhood started out beautifully.  I got to have the home birth I wanted. It was very challenging AND totally sacred and empowering.

Although exhausted and sleep deprived at times, I did really well until my son was about 5.5 months old.

After about a month and a half of never really getting any solid deep sleep, and a perfect storm of external stressors, my nervous system collapsed. I started having chronic insomnia which led to extreme exhaustion,  depression, and anxiety.

This led to about a year of exploring many different health practitioners, counsellors, and natural healing modalities. It took almost a year of focusing on my own healing before I started to feel back on my feet and enjoying motherhood again. Although excruciatingly painful at times, it was a deep time of self exploration and healing. It was often a spiritual journey through dark crevices yet explored. And it left me very inspired to support mothers in their own initiation into motherhood.

Many traditional cultures deeply honor this initiation and time of transition that women go through when becoming a mother. From periods of "lying-in" in the immediate postpartum so that they can recover from pregnancy and childbirth, to ceremonies and rituals that honor this sacred time. Women in these cultures are deeply nourished, nurtured, and honored for what they give body, mind and spirit in growing and birthing a child, and then for the many years following that they nourish and nurture that child.

Currently I offer the wisdom and gifts of my experience through Postpartum Wellness Coaching, as well as the blog on this website, a source of resources and tips on navigating the journey of becoming a mother.

As a Postpartum Doula, I am passionate about supporting expecting mothers and families in preparing for the fourth trimester and beyond through Postpartum Education and Planning, and Postpartum Care. With loving support, nurturing, and care, my vision is that your initiation into motherhood be one of ease and that you feel deeply held in your transformation.

I am also currently a student Stillbirthday Doula University. Although I am unsure yet if I want to be a Stillbirthday Birth & Bereavement Doula, I do know that I want to be mentally and emotionally equipped to offer Postpartum Care to all mothers, regardless of how and when their pregnancy ends.

All mothers and pregnant people require and deserve postpartum healing, care, and support after the end of their pregnancy. And I am here to offer that.

Contact me! I look forward to hearing from you.

Hope Corbin

Working with Hope during my pregnancy is a akin to speaking to an Elder in my community. I sit, notebook in hand scribbling away, attempting to catch all the gold nuggets of information they willingly share. It is evident that the depth of study, knowledge and experience that resides within this person comes from diverse sources, paired with their own intuition. I feel cared for in the prenatal stage, I feel ready for the birthing stage, and I feel confident in my postpartum care plan.

Hope was an incredibly powerful, insightful and loving resource for me during my experiences in Postpartum when my daughter was 7 months old. I was connected to her through a dear friend and I'm so grateful. Our first conversation, I felt seen, heard and understood instantaneously. She broke open the walls of resistance I had around speaking about what I was experiencing and through that assisted me in beginning to transmute a lot of it.

I was able to honour and meet myself where I was at with more authenticity, respect & recognize the gifts.

If you or someone you know is struggling in the postpartum or with depression - Please reach out. You aren't alone Mama! You are LOVED!!

After two very difficult births and many challenges postpartum I found myself drowning in exhaustion, depression and unresolved postpartum anxiety. Deciding to work with Hope has been the best decision I could have made to start healing. She brings a combination of deep compassion and understanding along with practical tools and advice that have been absolutely invaluable! She is a wise and intuitive coach with her own lived experience which brings deep purpose and passion to her work! Thank you Hope!

"I had been preparing myself as well as I could for the birth of my first baby, from nutrition, exercises, etc. also got all the paraphernalia for baby, the house set up etc. However, I was completely unprepared for what was expecting me after birth. I imagined I'd be back up on my feet after a couple of days. No one has prepared me for postpartum, no one had shared their story or their pain about that with me before, I had no idea what postpartum depression even really meant.

Intuitively Hope reached out to me days after birth. She kept on reaching out, simply sending me helpful little messages and resources. Slowly it dawned on me that I was right there - in postpartum depression and that I needed support. I didn't even realize that before and just thought there was something wrong with me. We didn't have help from family and it felt wrong asking friends. The realization that me getting support was important for my baby to thrive and also that what was going on with me was 'normal' has been so crucial for me which made me act right away and turn the wheel around before going downhill further. When I reached my low point of exhaustion three weeks after birth, I took Hope's advise and connected with a couple of postpartum doulas. I didn't even know about postpartum doulas. These angels are truly God sent. They are trained on how to support you best with baby, health, household, relationship, etc. while being so sensitive that I got over my shame about needing support, which was quite huge.

Hope has been passionately giving herself to studies of how to mother the mother best and she has become this incredible powerhouse supporting women during this magical and difficult time. In my second pregnancy, I connected with her, making a plan how to create a better postpartum experience for me and my little family. Baby is due soon and I'm feeling relaxed, confident, empowered and joyful thinking about what's to come. I also loved how my husband got included in the conversation and how it got considered how he would be supported best too.

Thank you, Hope, for doing what you do. I cannot emphasize the importance enough of the work you do for expecting mothers and their family. It's healing for the whole family and therefore for the planet."
